Short answer: the best Realme Narzo camera settings come from the stock app's Pro mode (Realme UI calls it Pro or Professional). Keep ISO as low as the light allows (100–200 in daylight, up to about 800 indoors), keep the shutter at 1/60 s or faster for handheld shots of people, and use EV −0.3 to −0.7 on bright or backlit scenes so the sky doesn't blow out. Shoot at the default resolution rather than the full-megapixel mode except in strong daylight, and turn AI scene enhancement off if colours look overcooked. Those values work across current Narzo models, including the Narzo 80 Lite 5G and the Narzo 80 Pro 5G. The last section covers the alternative: letting an AI set those same values for you, live, per scene.

This page is about tuning the camera you already have. If you are choosing a different app, see our best camera app for Realme comparison.

The Narzo hardware you're working with

Settings only make sense against the sensor behind them. The Narzo line covers a wide range:

ModelMain cameraNotes
Narzo 80 Lite 5G32 MP, f/1.8, 27 mm equivalent, autofocusSingle main camera; 8 MP front
Narzo 80 Lite (4G)13 MP mainEntry model, very small pixels
Narzo 80 Pro 5G50 MP Sony IMX882, 1/1.95-inch, f/1.8, OISPlus a 2 MP mono sensor; 16 MP front

Specs are from Realme India's official spec pages and retailer listings. The Lite models have small sensors without optical stabilisation, so they punish slow shutter speeds; the Narzo 80 Pro's OIS allows slower handheld shutter speeds.

Pro mode primer: what ISO, shutter and EV actually do

Three controls do almost all the work in Pro mode. Our longer explainer, what is Pro mode on a camera, goes deeper. This is the Narzo version.

ISO: how much the sensor signal is amplified

ISO is gain. A higher number makes the picture brighter without letting in any more light, by amplifying the signal the sensor already caught. The cost is noise: grain, blotchy colour in shadows, and the smeared "watercolour" look that appears when the phone's noise reduction then scrubs that grain away.

On a small sensor like the Narzo 80 Lite's, noise rises quickly. A practical rule: use the lowest ISO that still gives you a usable shutter speed.

Shutter speed: how long the sensor collects light

Shutter speed is time. 1/500 s freezes a moving child; 1/15 s collects far more light but blurs anything that moves, including your own hand. Handheld without OIS, most people get sharp results at 1/60 s or faster. With OIS (Narzo 80 Pro), 1/15–1/30 s is often workable for still subjects.

ISO and shutter trade against each other: halve the shutter time and you need double the ISO for the same brightness.

EV: exposure compensation

EV tells the camera "make this brighter or darker than you think it should be." In Pro mode, when ISO and shutter are both on auto, EV nudges the camera's own choice. Negative EV (−0.3, −0.7) protects bright areas like skies, white shirts and lamps. Positive EV lifts dark scenes and backlit faces, at the cost of those highlights.

Once highlights clip to pure white in a JPEG, there's no detail left to recover, so on phones slightly darker is usually the safer mistake.

Settings to change before you touch Pro mode

These affect every photo, whatever mode you shoot in:

  1. Stay at the default resolution. The full 32 MP or 50 MP mode records every tiny pixel separately. That captures more texture in bright sun but gives noisier, softer files indoors. The default mode combines neighbouring pixels, collecting more light each.
  2. Use the 3:4 aspect ratio. It uses the whole sensor. 16:9 and full-screen crop the top and bottom.
  3. Turn AI scene enhancement off if colours look too strong. Scene enhancement pushes saturation and sharpening per detected scene. Grass turning neon and skin going orange are the classic signs. You can add punch in an editor later, but over-sharpening can't be removed once it's in the JPEG. For more on this, see camera app without over-processing.
  4. Avoid digital zoom. None of the Narzo 80 models has a telephoto lens, so "2×" is a crop of the main sensor. Walk closer instead.
  5. Clean the lens. A fingerprint smudge produces haze and flare that no setting fixes.

Recommended Narzo Pro mode values, scene by scene

These are starting points, not fixed rules. Set them, take the shot, check the preview, and adjust by one step. "Lite" means the Narzo 80 Lite 4G or 5G; "Pro" means the Narzo 80 Pro 5G with OIS.

Bright daylight

This is where the Narzo sensors do best. Keep ISO at the base value and let the shutter run fast. The only real risk is clipped skies, so pull EV down a third to two-thirds of a stop. If you want maximum detail on a still scene, this is the one situation where the full-resolution mode pays off.

Backlit and high-contrast scenes

The stock camera often meters for the bright background, leaving faces dark, or meters for the face and blows out the sky. You can only protect one side with a single frame. Choose the face: tap it, raise EV slightly, and accept a brighter sky. The phone's built-in HDR helps here, but on budget models it merges fewer frames than flagship pipelines, which is why shadows can still look noisy.

Indoors

Indoor light is far dimmer than it looks. On the Lite models, keep the shutter at 1/60 s and let ISO rise to 400–800 rather than slowing the shutter and blurring the shot. On the Narzo 80 Pro, OIS lets you go to 1/30 s and keep ISO lower, which gives visibly cleaner shadows. Set WB manually under yellow bulbs.

Night

Handheld at night, Pro mode on a Lite model runs out of room fast: a shutter slow enough for a bright exposure blurs, and ISO high enough to compensate turns the photo to mush. Here the stock Night mode, which merges several frames, usually beats a single manual frame. On the Narzo 80 Pro, OIS makes a 1/15 s handheld frame realistic. If you can rest the phone on a wall or table, drop ISO to 100–200 and use a 1–2 second shutter with the self-timer so pressing the button doesn't shake it.

Why Narzo photos can still look flat after all this

Two limits aren't settings.

The first is time. Pro mode values are fixed until you change them. Walk from a shaded doorway into sunlight and your ISO 800, 1/60 s setting is suddenly two stops overexposed. Most people give up and go back to Auto.

The second is the processing pipeline. The cleanest phone photos today come from merging a burst of RAW frames, the multi-frame method Google Pixel and iPhone cameras use to hold highlights and clean up shadows. Budget chips and stock apps typically do lighter merging than that, and a single manual Pro mode frame gets no merge at all. The alternative: let the AI set them

Everything above is a photographer's job done by hand: read the scene, pick ISO, shutter and EV, then pick again when the light changes. An AI camera app can do it continuously.

SensePose is an AI camera app for Android built around a real-time AI Pro Mode: its AI reads each scene and sets ISO, EV, aperture and shutter live, the way a DSLR photographer would, then merges a RAW HDR+ multi-frame burst on-device. That's the same multi-frame method Pixel and iPhone cameras use, running on hardware like the Narzo's that shipped without it. The aim is accurate, true-to-scene colour rather than the heavy saturation that stock scene enhancement often adds. You can still override any value manually if you want to use the table above.

FAQ

What are the best Realme Narzo camera settings?

Use Pro mode with ISO as low as the light allows (100–200 outdoors, 400–800 indoors), a shutter speed of 1/60 s or faster handheld, and EV −0.3 to −0.7 on bright scenes. Keep the default resolution, use 3:4, turn AI scene enhancement off if colours look overdone, and avoid digital zoom.

What are the best Narzo 80 Lite camera settings?

The Narzo 80 Lite 5G has a 32 MP f/1.8 main camera without optical stabilisation, so prioritise shutter speed: stay at 1/60 s or faster and let ISO rise indoors. Use the default resolution rather than full 32 MP except in bright daylight, and use the stock Night mode rather than Pro mode for handheld night shots.

How can I improve Realme Narzo camera quality?

Clean the lens, stay at 1× zoom, hold still for a moment after the shutter, and expose slightly darker in bright light so highlights survive. Turning off AI scene enhancement gives more natural colour. For live exposure control and a multi-frame RAW merge, you need a third-party camera app, because stock Pro mode shoots a single frame.

Is Pro mode better than Auto on the Narzo?

It can be, in scenes where Auto guesses wrong, like backlit portraits, warm indoor light or fast motion. But Pro mode values stay fixed until you change them and each shot is a single frame, so in changing or dim light Auto or Night mode often does better. An AI Pro Mode that adjusts values live is the middle ground.

Does the Narzo 80 Pro need different settings from the Narzo 80 Lite?

Mostly the same, with one difference. The Narzo 80 Pro has a larger 50 MP Sony IMX882 sensor with OIS, so you can use slower shutter speeds handheld, around 1/30 s indoors and 1/15 s at night, and keep ISO lower. The Lite models lack OIS and should stay at 1/60 s or faster.

Can an app set ISO and shutter automatically like a photographer?

Yes. SensePose's real-time AI Pro Mode reads each scene and sets ISO, EV, aperture and shutter live, then merges a RAW HDR+ burst on-device. You can still override any value by hand. The camera is free on Android 10 and newer.
